More than 370 years ago two men were in deep conversation as they walked on the hill now known as the Necropolis in Glasgow. The impact of those deliberations still endures in a publication that they planned together. In the small town of Turriff in Aberdeenshire you can still see the bell that tolled for people to come to worship and hear David Dickson’s sermons. But Dickson was not there voluntarily, he had been banished as a civil punishment. Why was this and what can we still learn from this episode?
